Press Release, 21st April 2008 - Bremy to the rescue of cash
stricken printing firms
Originating from New Zealand where the print business represents an unusually large
proportion of industry, Bremy UK was established here in the UK last year.

Bremy’s product, the “Bremy System”, solves many problems for printing firms that
are struggling to achieve sustainable margins on their business. Speaking to many
print firms in the UK, Colin Sarling – Director of Bremy UK – explains how he see’s
the print industry. “Most of the MD’s and sales directors of printing firms in the
UK complain of being treated like a commodity provider. A prospective client will
call the sales team, ask for a quote for a given job, then, 9 times out of ten will
never be heard of again. Even established clients of reputable printing firms may
sometimes take their business elsewhere and the printing firm won’t even know why”.
Sarling draws upon his experience in the IT outsourcing business and explains that
“we used to call this a ‘transactional based client relationship’. In other words,
the whole relationship is characterised by individual transactions that include
an enquiry from the client, a quote going out by the sales team, then either the
business being won or lost, and precious little follow-up regardless of the outcome.
The whole discussion is dominated by price and more often than not, the printing
firm won’t have any contact with the prospective client until another quote is requested
and the cycle starts again”.

By adopting tools like the Bremy system, printing firms can build much stronger
and more meaningful relationships with their clients. They can move up the value
chain where price is far less sensitive and start to solve real business problems
for their clients. The printing firm will become a valued business partner rather
than someone who ‘puts ink on paper’ as cheaply as possible.

Clients of printing firms, often brands and end user companies, have many marketing
communications challenges on a daily basis. Print production being just one of them.
Using Bremy, printing firms can not only manage their clients print, they can now
manage their clients data. This approach has major benefits to the printing firm:
- A stronger value based relationship which will allow the printing firm to identify
and forecast future business opportunities within the account
- Additional revenues will now be accessible by the printing firm as new services
are provided to solve problems other than just print
- The print business is ‘locked’ in and the conversation is moved away from price
.... and the client:
- A more effective use of their marketing budget by consolidating spend through fewer
service providers
- A stronger, value based relationship, leads to a more strategic approach to print
buying which will be more efficient
- A more consistent use of brand across all channels to market
- Greater efficiencies as a result of having access to a leading edge Marketing Resource
Management system

So, what then, does the Bremy system do exactly. Well, says Sarling “in addition
to the web-to-print and variable data capabilities built into the system (which
include a sophisticated Online Order System; VDP for DM and personalisation etc;
and full photoshop font variable data support) bremy also provides the following
capabilities which are invaluable to most marketing and brand managers:
- Full featured Image Library (Digital Asset Management)
- Online proof / approval tool with real-time collaborative mark-up and annotations
- Email marketing via pre-prepared templates and mailing list management
- Automatic publishing of content across multiple channels to market including Print
(catalogue; POS etc), web site, email and SMS.

In fact, the Bremy system automates many of the production processes involved in
all of the marketing communications channels”. This means marketing organisations
can run more campaigns with less resource and can get their message to their target
market in a fraction of the time.

All of the major printing firms in Australasia currently use the Bremy system. So
far in the UK most of bremy’s clients are print management firms. Says Sarling “Print
management firms seem to ‘get it’. They realise that whoever owns the client’s data
effectively owns the account. By handling more and more of the clients marketing
budget, print management firms are manoeuvring themselves into strategic partnerships
with their clients and are seen to be adding significant value. The more print management
firms and ad agencies control clients data through the use of sophisticated strategies
and tools like this, the more the traditional printing firms will be locked out.
This can only lead to one thing: an escalating downward spiral on price pressure
for printing firms and consolidation as they struggle to maintain a profitable business.

Remote Coach was launched in the UK this year by Bremy Director Colin Sarling, who
is based in Hampshire. National League One Rugby Football club, London Welsh, are
among the first in the UK to use the system. Peter Thomas, London Welsh RFC chief
executive said: "Remote coach allows us to greatly extend contact time with the
players. As a part time club in a highly competitive league contact time is at a
premium. Remote Coach is a highly innovative but simple to manage solution to the
problem of increasing contact time with a diverse group of players."

“Remote Coach dramatically increases the contact time between a coach and their
players by separating match or game footage into sections for analysis, annotation
and instruction. Once this information has been uploaded, team members receive an
individual email with a link to the footage relevant to them” said Sarling.

“On accessing the link, team members are able to view the notes and instructions
about their performance from their coach alongside the footage, meaning the de-briefing
session is complete by the next time the coach and team meet, leaving more time
to put this advice into practice immediately”.

Colin is very excited about Remote Coach and what it can do for local sports academies,
teams and schools in the area. “There is nothing of its kind out there” he says.
“The system has been used for many years in New Zealand with astounding results,
and I am delighted to be able to offer it here in the UK.”

Press Release, 24th September 2007 - Bremy previews Print Manager
at DPW
Bremy, in association with Positive Focus will be showing their Print
Manager, an economically priced service for templated document production
and web to print, on Stand 158 at Digital Print World.
The Bremy System, originating in New Zealand, is the brainchild of Manuel Schamroth,
who will be at Digital Print World for the launch of the service, which is tailored
to the needs of smaller printers who want to provide a simple web based ordering
system for their clients. Bremy is a modular system with an Advanced Digital Asset
Management facility (Bremy ADAM) at its core. Colin Sarling, Bremy’s UK Director
of Sales said ‘For smaller printers Asset Management is not a major requirement,
as they often have a very mobile customer base, so we developed Print Manager from
an initial concept of the need to lower job origination costs. Web to print can
do that, but there are a lot of hidden expenses in providing the necessary infrastructure.
With Bremy Print Manager, we take care of that, the print service provider and the
end client just need a simple browser to access the system, there is no hardware
to install, manage or maintain.’
Print Manager provides a basic data handling core, based on Bremy ADAM, plus
Ticketing and Stationery modules, allowing customisation and production of a wide
variety of templated documents on line. Print Manager Pro is a higher spec
pre-packed version including the full functionality of Bremy ADAM, with Internet
proofing and approval of documents. Other modules can be added to Print Manager
Pro, allowing database publishing of catalogues and brochures to print or to the
web, and publishing and tracking of e-mail newsletters.

Bremy Print Manager offers an easy option for many organisations that might find
installing and hosting their own system a forbidding experience. A one-off set-up
fee covers provision of the service, customisation of the interface and full training,
and a monthly payment covers storage space on the Bremy servers, with daily backup,
operating under a full service level agreement.
A printer subscribing to Bremy Print Manager can offer his customers web-based access
to templates of their point of sale materials and business documents. They can personalise
or customise these, with 24/7 access, placing their orders on-line. There is a set-up
fee and a monthly hosting charge, allowing for 6Gb of replicated storage, with
daily backups, and unlimited templates on line. Each user receives two non-branded
sub-domains, so they can use one for generic items for their occasional customers
while providing a private space to develop a specific, customised web to print service
for a single client. Additional branded or unbranded sub-domains, storage space
and functional modules can be purchased as the usage expands.

‘This is a scalable solution with predictable costs.’ said Ivor Dixon of Positive
Focus. ‘For a printer producing 50 jobs per month through the web portal, the running
cost is just £12 per job. If you can double the throughput per month, effectively
your cost per job would be reduced to £6.00. There are huge savings in admin
time with a hosted web to print system, plus the advantage of having an online,
highly accessible storefront open 24/7.’

Bremy Print Manager will feature, alongside the other Bremy modules, on stand 158
throughout Digital Print World, from 16th to 18th October at Earls Court, but for
those not visiting the show, web demonstrations can be arranged by calling Positive
Focus on 08456 120 246 or Bremy UK on 020 7585 2553. Alternatively, contact

Positive Focus has added the Bremy System to the range of automation solutions
it offers in the UK and Ireland. The bremy system originates in New Zealand, where
it is already in use by major advertising agencies, retail chains and print firms.
It provides a powerful, highly integrated approach to automated, web based, document
production. The underlying core technology is bremy’s Advanced Digital Asset Management,
(bremy ADAM), which allows assets, including complete documents, images and video
clips to be stored, accessed and managed via a browser interface, opening up the
possibility of global cooperation and highly cost effective control. Images can
be viewed, selected and downloaded in their original format or resized and converted
to other file formats on the fly, so one master copy is all that needs to be retained
on the system.

Within the bremy system are modules for automated publishing of catalogues and marketing
material to press, web or email. Templated production of items like Point of Sale
promotional material and tickets, Business Stationery and Corporate print, Email

introductory package deals are available where several modules are taken in common
combinations. The interface is customised to suit corporate requirements and the

Ivor Dixon, MD of Positive Focus, commenting on the addition to their portfolio,
said ‘The feedback from our customers is that they need to automate more of their
interaction with customers, to remain competitive. The bremy system allows us to
offer them a scalable solution, with a low entry cost, that can grow with their
requirements and their confidence in trusting their business to the web. It is simple
and intuitive to use and requires no software at the client side. Being modular
and completely customisable, we can build the combination of features that suits
their business needs, rather than try to fit their needs within the box of a more
conventional product.’
